MY  WISH  LIST  FOR  HMHSupport Group

How many times have we said "I wish" and it involves something for our own personal gain.  The Hastings Mental Health Support Group has a wish list and on the top of that list is a wish to hold an International Mental Health Conference here in Port Macquarie, in support of everyone who has been involved in any way with mental illness.  The aim of the conference is to bring a group of experts from Holland, Denmark, NZ and Australia together to share ways of working with people with mental illness.  The conference will have keynote speakers; these will be dedicated professionals with a proven track record and experts by experience who will share their own stories of recovery. They will be supported by local and interstate presenters.  There will be workshops to back up information given by the keynote speakers to give people the tools to carry on the work in their own localities.  It will be a chance to meet new friends, network and problem solve.  It will be a life changing experience for some to begin their own journey of recovery.  We wish!  Approximate costing for this Conference will be in the vicinity of $20,000.  

Other Items for my Wish List

1. New premises for Hastings Mental Health Support Group to hold their monthly meetings.  A nice bright airy cottage with windows to let in the light, a place where carers and clients can come for the much needed comfort and support they so deserve and need.  Extra rooms in new premises where we have a Counselor come to interview Carers or Clients.  Approximate costing $500,000.
2. Bus for transporting Carers & Clients plus ongoing costs associated with the vehicle. Approximate costing $20,000.
3. Electronic whiteboard to be used at the meetings where we have Guest Speakers.  Approximate costing $1,000.
4. Laptop for Group Leader.  Approximate Costing $1,000.
5. Desktops for clients and carers to use.  Approximate Costing $1,500.
6. Ongoing sponsorship for use of the Internet.  Approximate Costing $1,000 per year.
7. Study Desks.  Approximate Costing $1,800.
8. Bookcases.  Approximate Costing $1,500.
9. Stationery.  Approximate Costing $400/year.
10. Printer.  Approximate Costing $600.
11. Projector/Screen.  Approximate Costing $1,000.
12. Television and DVD Recorder.  $3,500.
13. Furniture - Chairs, Tables.  Approximate Costing $1,500.
14. Lounge Suite.  Approximate Costing $1,000.
15. Filing Cabinets.  Approximate Costing $600.
16. Crockery, cutlery.  Approximate Costing $150.
17. Microwave.  $400.
18. Electric Jug.  Approximate Costing $50.
19. Morning Tea supplies eg. Coffee / Tea / Sugar / Milk.  Approximate Costing - this would be ongoing.

The next Meeting will be held on Friday 24th February 2012 from 10am - 12Noon in the MacAdams Building which is located adjacent to the car park of the Players Theatre, it also backs onto the Port Macquarie Council Swimming Pool.  If you would like to contribute & bring along a plate of Sandwiches/Cake to welcome any new members that may attend, it would be appreciated.

The only two (2) months the Support Group does not meet is December/January.
